About
Birmingham Chinese School (BCS) is a registered 501c3 nonprofit parent-volunteer Chinese language school serving communities in and around Birmingham, Alabama for over 25 years. We offer classes that combine language and cultural programs to give our students a comprehensive learning experience. For the Fall and the Spring semesters, regular school hours are every Saturday morning from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm except for holiday weekends and special scheduled events. Mission
BCS is dedicated to promoting Chinese language and cultural heritage. BCS does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, nationality, and ethnic origins. We rely on the coordination of the parents, the experience of the teachers, the participation of students, and the support of the community to give our students a rewarding and successful learning experience.
Registration is open to students of all school ages and levels, who wish to learn Mandarin Chinese and Chinese culture. We teach traditional Chinese characters and simplified Chinese characters, and offer classes in Pinyin and Zhuyin Fuhao, also known as Bopomofo. We are among the first in Birmingham area to incorporate IQChinese language learning system with other multimedia and traditional teaching tools in our curriculum.
